It seems that one is trending up, while the other is trending down. Football will always be my favorite over soccer, without question, but I may become the odd man out. The NFL with its numerous issues and then the blundering of handling those issues has put them in a negative light. Add in the outside pressure and the NFL finds itself in an odd spot. They were the fastest growing sport and the biggest sport for the last several decades, now they are facing a decline in ticket sales and other revenue streams, it it all from the issues, or is soccer making it happen.
With global coverage easy to get, a Michigander can be a fan of Real Madrid or any top soccer team in the world. Meanwhile the MLS continues to nab endorsement deals, TV contracts, etc. Even some of the endorsements that have left the NFL have mad the move to the MLS, and we didn’t really even get into concussions, because that opens a whole other can of worms that could see the NFL ceasing to exist in the distant future, again the distant future. So what will the future hold for these two sports, only time will tell, but I must ask you soccer or football?
