Technology seems to be advancing at an alarming rate. It is odd to think that 20 years ago the internet was just a baby, just about everything had to be plugged in, and TV’s well TV’s have come a long way in the last 20 years. That had me thinking what is on the horizon? What are some of the top tech trends for 2018… Well lets start with self-driving car…almost
There’s been a lot of autonomous driving advancements and partnerships in 2017, and it’s likely that things will continue picking up next year because the money that is pouring into this technology. First, Tesla is planning on one of its cars to drive itself all the way from Los Angeles to New York. If that happens I may feel safe riding in one. Tesla has already started manufacturing new vehicles capable of full autonomy, but I am wary of this tech in Michigan. I still think we are a long ways away from an autonomous car driving on snowy Michigan roads.
Augmented reality (AR) will be huge among consumers next year thanks to Apple and Google’s recent push to make the technology mainstream. For those like me Augmented Reality is a live direct or indirect view of a physical, real-world environment whose elements are “augmented” by computer-generated or extracted real-world sensory input such as sound, video, graphics, or GPS data. For example you may be able to measure your room in square footage using an app on your phone, and could possibly begin to look at that room with different paint, furniture, etc. It might not seem like much not, but it could be a big tool for the future concerning construction, design, and many other industries.
There are a couple tech trends to watch for 2018, I don’t know how much either will have an impact on 2018 in Mid Michigan, but the thought of measuring my house with my phone and my car driving itself seem quite convenient!
