Father Thomas Held, Pastor at St. Joseph the Worker in Beal City, has resigned, following the controversy around Dominic Thrasher, the gay author, reading to preschool children. In a press release, Bishop Gruss of the Diocese of Saginaw confirmed the resignation.  Father Held said he tendered it because he felt it’d be impossible for him to bring unity to the parish.  A visiting priest will cover the weekend masses, while the search is on for a new permanent Pastor.
