Jussie Smollett has been sentenced to probation and 150 days in jail for charges related to a hate crime he was convicted of staging.
The sentencing hearing was long – both in time and drama.
The six-hour hearing included a victim impact statement from the City of Chicago and hours of testimony from character witnesses.
Aside from jail and probation, Smollett was fined $25-thousand and ordered to pay more than $120-thousand in restitution to the City of Chicago.
In a dramatic moment, Smollett not only declared his innocence, but that he “is not suicidal”
