“Saturday Night Live” honored the late Norm MacDonald during its season 47 premiere this weekend. Colin Jost and Michael Che wrapped up the “Weekend Update” segment by paying tribute to the late comedian and “SNL” alum.

The two said it was a “bittersweet night,” reminding viewers that McDonald died September 14th. After a few of their own jokes, they concluded the segment with footage of some highlights from McDonald’s time as a host of “Weekend Update.” The reel included one-liners about President Clinton, OJ Simpson, and a French man who climbed up a Manhattan high-rise.

“Norm is the reason I ever wanted to do ‘Weekend Update,’” Jost said. “So tonight, we thought we’d turn the last few jokes of ‘Update’ over to Norm.” Check out a clip to the right.
