Another woman has come forward to accuse another Hollywood heavyweight of sexual harassment – and worse. This time, it’s Dustin Hoffman who stands accused of harassing and even groping a then-17-year-old intern on the set of the 1985 TV movie version of “Death of a Salesman.” Hoffman was 48 at the time.
According to Anna Graham Hunter, Hoffman not only groped her, but he would also talk about sex with her frequently. “He was openly flirtatious, he grabbed my ass, he talked about sex to me and in front of me,” she writes. “One morning I went to his dressing room to take his breakfast order; he looked at me and grinned, taking his time. Then he said, ‘I’ll have a hard-boiled egg … and a soft-boiled clitoris.’ His entourage burst out laughing. I left, speechless. Then I went to the bathroom and cried.”
But it’s not all long-gone memories she’s rehashing. Hunter also has a set of letters she was sending her sister at the time detailing her experiences. As she puts it now, “I loved the attention. Until I didn’t.”
In a letter she wrote in February of 1985, she told her sister that she tried to have a “serious conversation” about Dustin’s behavior with someone on set, but somehow the actor knew what was going on and shouted “Anna! Are you badmouthing me? Anna! Get over here, Anna!” and the crew started laughing.
- It hasn’t taken long for Hoffman to respond to Hunter’s claims. “I have the utmost respect for women and feel terrible that anything I might have done could have put her in an uncomfortable situation,” the 80-year-old actor offers. “I am sorry. It is not reflective of who I am.”
