Central Michigan University Police warned people not to respond to unsolicited job offers through email. A recent scam used “@centralmich.org” email addresses. The offers call for a personal assistant or similar work, then the suspects send a salary check for a higher amount than initially agreed upon. Victims are then instructed to send another check with some of the balance to someone else. Ultimately the original check bounces and the victims are out the money. CMU Police want to remind everyone that all CMU emails come from an “@cmich.edu” address.
