A federal grand jury convicted 35-year-old Mt Pleasant man John Vasquez Jr. of domestic violence by a habitual offender on Thursday. Evidence in the trial established that Vasquez strangled his girlfriend to the point that she had trouble breathing on March 11th, 2016. He faces a maximum of 15 years in prison for the crime.
