So the lions didn’t win the division, but heck we are in the playoffs and sometimes that is all that matters!  Here are my positive outlooks on the lions not winning the division and getting the 6th seed in the playoffs and playing against Seattle.

New York Giants vs Green Bay Packers

#1 We don’t play New York again- The New York Giant defense has been outstanding the past month or so, not giving up over 20 points since the middle of November. Also, as up and down as Eli Manning can be, with his 2 super bowl rings he is the most experienced NFC quarterback in the playoffs.

Earl Thomas

#2 Seattle’s best defensive player is out. Earl Thomas has been an all-pro the moment he put on a Seattle helmet. With him and Cam Chancellor they have had they best safety combo in the league hands down the past few years.  As they compliment each others games to perfection. Thomas is better in the pass game while Chancellor is a great run stopping safety. In the last four games only the LA Rams (with a rookie QB) have failed to put up 20 points. The lions should be able to take advantage in some holes in Seattle’s secondary.

Golden Tate

#3 Richard Sherman is one of the best corners in the league, but struggles with quick guys like Golden Tate. The most outspoken player in football has even admitted that guarding guys like Golden Tate prevent the biggest challenge for him. Tate is smaller and quicker than Sherman and if Sherman can’t jam him at the line of scrimmage Tate could have a good day.

Lawrence Tynes; punter for the New York Giants lifting the Lombardi trophy

#4 Since 2000 four wild card teams have won the super bowl. If you think its a long shot for the 5th or 6th seed to make the Super Bowl you would be wrong. The 2000 Baltimore Ravens, 2005 Steelers, 2007 Giants, and the 2010 Packers all hoisted the Lombardi trophy after playing on wild card weekend.

So there ya go, ya never know, sometimes all that you have to do is get in…AND THE LIONS ARE IN!
