Justin Verlander and the Detroit Tigers offense kept their slim playoff hopes alive with a 12-0 victory over the Cleveland Indians Tuesday night. Verlander struck out a season-high 12 batters in 7 2/3 scoreless innings. Miguel Cabrera drove in the first five runs of the game and reached base in all four of his at-bats. Justin Upton also added a three run home run. The Tigers now trail Baltimore by one game in the American League wild card chase with five games left.
