A preliminary report presented to Isabella County commissioners showed several issues present at the Isabella County jail. Setup and design issues create challenges for corrections officers. The jail also lacks maximum security cells and cells designed for those with mental illness. The jail offers no room for expansion either. At this time, commissioners have no plans to make improvements.
