Mt Pleasant Police stayed very busy over Welcome Weekend for Central Michigan University. Overall, the public called in 653 complaints, up from 574 last year. 344 people received citations or arrests, with nearly half issued for parties with open intox. 70 minor in possession citations, and 45 nuisance party-hosting citations were also released. Many students complained that the police coverage was overbearing or excessive this year in places compared to recent years.
