Total air traffic at the Mt Pleasant Municipal Airport is down almost 54 percent from 2012 to 2015. In 2012, 1,553 airplanes took off and landed at the airport, while only 823 passed through in 2015. Airport Manager Chris Coale said the decrease in traffic is on par with other small airports around the country with the popularity of general aviation waning.
