Holiday travelers, rejoice! MDOT announced that many construction projects will be halted over the 4th of July weekend to help ease traffic concerns. Additionally, many roads currently closed due to construction will open this weekend.
Projects go on-hold starting at 3pm Friday until 6am Tuesday. MDOT asks drivers to still be careful while driving through the on-hold areas. AAA Michigan expects this 4th of July weekend to be the busiest for travel in years.
Locally, a section of M-18 in Beaverton currently closed opens for the weekend. All lanes on the US-10 Business Route/M-20 in Midland reopen for the weekend. Additionally, MDOT plans to open all lanes on US-10 over Chippewa Creek with a temporary bridge. No additional lanes on US-127 between Alma and Ithaca, or on M-20 between Oil City and Midland are scheduled to open.
