Sacred Heart pitcher Jackson Reetz followed up two strong performances in district action last weekend to lead the Sacred Heart Irish to a 7-3 victory over Brethren Saturday in regional semifinal action from Evart. The Irish fell behind 2-0 quickly in the 1st on two costly errors, but Sacred Heart clawed their way back, and the Bobcats simply had no answer.

Reetz tossed all seven innings, allowing 3 hits, 2 walks and 3runs (0 earned), while striking out 10. Brethren pitcher Josh Riggs had a strong performance of his own, striking out ten Irish hitters, but poor fielding and a rough offensive showing from the Bobcats cost him a chance at a victory. Jackson Reetz also led Sacred Heart at the plate, hitting a triple with 2 RBI in the win.

The Irish will play the winner of McBain Northern Michigan Christian and Muskegon Catholic Central in the regional final on Saturday afternoon. First pitch will be about a half-hour after the completion of the second regional semifinal.

On the softball diamond, Vestaburg won a nail-biter 7-5 over Mason County Central to advance to the regional championship game against the winner of Holton and Fife Lake Forest Area in their regional title game.
