The Sacred Heart Irish took home a 2-0 victory in district semifinal action over the Beal City Aggies on Saturday at the Sacred Heart baseball complex. The Irish and Aggies took a scoreless tie into the 5th inning, before Joe Methner got the free pass home on a walk from Beal City pitcher Brad Upton. Upton allowed another run when he hit Matt Kornexl with a pitch in the 6th.

Meanwhile, the Aggies put runners in scoring position in the 3rd, 4th and 5th innings before making several costly errors leading to double plays, and ultimately a season-ending loss. Matt Kornexl allowed seven hits and one walk with three strikeouts in seven scoreless innings for the Irish. Brad Upton surrendered seven walks, four hits and two runs with five strikeouts in the loss for the Aggies. The Irish now face Vestaburg for the district title.
