The battle against invasive species is something just about every lake association in northern Michigan has to deal with. But one of the most popular, famous and beautiful lakes in Leelanau County is dealing with something kind of unique and is responding in a rather unique way. They’ve discovered there is an invasive species called Koi. It’s the Japanese word for carp. A fishing group out of Northern Michigan, has harvested 4 with a bow-fishing team out of Mesick and we had one that was 24 and a half pounds. At 24.5 pounds, it’s a potential bow-fishing world record.
