Did you hear about the controversy surrounding “First Man?” In a nutshell, people have been in an uproar because the movie, which details Neil Armstrong’s 1969 moon landing, omitted the flag-planting scene. Some saw that as unpatriotic.
The late astronaut’s sons, Rick and Mark Armstrong, along with ”First Man” author James R. Hansen released a statement on Friday. “We do not feel this movie is anti-American in the slightest,” they said. “Quite the opposite. But don’t take our word for it. We’d encourage everyone to go see this remarkable film and see for themselves.”
Ryan Gosling stars as Armstrong in the drama that premiered at the Venice Film Festival last week. It hits theaters on October 12th.
