On Monday – satellite images showed a white haze of wildfire smoke moving from the Dakotas into Minnesota and Wisconsin, originating from wildfires in western Canada. The upper-air flow is continuing to carry the smoke into the Midwest and eventually toward Michigan. Currently in Canada there are 143 active wildfires, with 38 categorized as “out of control.” This may signal a challenging wildfire season ahead as rain becomes sparse in Canada during the summer months.
