Sheriff Left Gun At School In Shepherd; Releases Statement

Shepherd Police Chief Luke Sawyer said in a Facebook post Monday that a weapon, found in a locker at Shepherd Middle School, was left by an off-duty police officer. It has now been revealed that that officer was Isabella County Sheriff Michael Main, who took full responsibility for the incident. Main left the weapon behind inadvertently when he used the facility to change over the weekend. The gun was found by a student Monday morning who immediately notified staff.
