David Chase Developing “Sopranos” Prequel: It’s official, “The Sopranos” are coming back, but it’s not what you think. A prequel movie, written by “Sopranos” creator David Chase, is in development with New Line Cinema. The screenplay is titled “The Many Saints of Newark” and it will focus on the Newark riots in the 60’s in a time where African Americans and Italians in Newark were constantly fighting. Some of “The Sopranos” characters will make the film, but no word on exactly who. It’s being speculated that Tony Soprano’s father Giovanni and Uncle Johnny would appear.
