Isabella County is taking steps to save the sheriff’s office road patrol division that’s under threat of being cut due to budget woes. County commissioners voted unanimously Tuesday night to approve a special law enforcement millage that will save 19 road patrol positions. The proposal is for 1.45 mills for 6 years, costing taxpayers $75 dollars per year, per $100,000 in property value. The county was expected to make cuts starting in October but voted to fund current operations to the end of the year, giving them more time to find the funding. The proposal will be on the Nov. 5 ballot.
