A pair of fires on CMU’s campus last week, has prompted Mt Pleasant Fire Dept to issue warnings about transportation options that rely on a powerful kind of battery. Lithium-ion batteries were to blame for those fires. The dept says they could have been sparked from electric skateboards, scooters and bikes, but also any consumer good that relies on lithium-ion batteries, which includes a wide range of cordless power tools.
