Michelle Obama’s new podcast kicked off yesterday, and it was everything we thought it would be. The former First Lady’s first guest on The Michelle Obama Podcast was her husband, former President Barack Obama.
Even though the show deals with relationships, Mrs. Obama managed to get a little political when she referred to her husband as, “A former president who read and knows history…. Let’s just take a moment to pause and think about that.” They also addressed how little average people know about the workings of government, which lends itself to a general mistrust of it.
The Obamas’ conversation – which was lighthearted and sweet – touched on everything from their upbringing and how their early ideas of success were different to handling the pandemic and how Barack is the eternal optimist – or as Michelle put it, “The ‘Yes, We Can’ man.” Even though she considers herself to be more cynical, she summed up her feelings with, “When in doubt, rely on hope.”
