Mt Pleasant protests of the death of George Floyd, who died during his arrest by a Minneapolis officer, remained peaceful. Protestors marched from Red Lobster on the South end of town, up Mission to downtown Mt Pleasant. Roads were blocked for those protesting to lay in the street and chant “I Can’t Breathe”. In other parts of the state, riots occurred aside from the peaceful demonstrations. The National Guard was deployed to Grand Rapids and Lansing.
