A muck fire , or fire that burns underground, is being watched by fire officials in Shepherd. The issue started when a farmer performed a legal burn to clear some farmland. Smoke can be seen coming from the ground. While it’s been burning for more than a month, the DNR says there’s no need to worry. The DNR hopes the rain will help stop the fire.
