A tip to Detroit area police may have stopped a mass shooting.
A Shelby Township, Michigan man is facing charges of making a threat of terrorism for sending text messages about plans for a mass shooting at Lakeside Mall. A tip was given to police on Friday and 20-year-old Tyler Tindell, who was was arraigned yesterday, faces up to 20 years in prison if found guilty.
Sterling Heights Deputy Police Chief Mark Coil says extra security was added to the Mall and no one’s safety was at risk. Coil adds Tindell made references to a pair of school shootings in Parkland, Florida and Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut.
A gun was found at the the time of Tindell’s arrest at his home.
