The Krewe of Endymion, the group that puts on the largest Mardi Gras parade in New Orleans, has reversed course and dropped Mel Gibson as the co-chair of this year’s parade. In a statement, Krewe of Endymion president Dan Kelly said the move happened after “significant feedback” about Gibson’s role in the parade, which he says “included threats which caused us grave concern.” After the announcement, organizations like the Jewish Federation of Greater New Orleans and the Anti-Defamation League said they were “appalled” that the organizers had chosen Gibson to begin with.
