A Michigan Economic development board has approved more than $400 million in state incentives yesterday for (2) battery facilities – one of them in Mecosta County – estimated to cost $4 billion and bring 4,500 jobs to the state. An allocation of $175 million will go to the facility planned by Chinese manufacturer Gotion for Big Rapids here in Mid-Michigan, which will build components used for electric vehicle batteries.
