America’s favorite ‘Golden Girl,’ Betty White passed away just 18 days shy of her 100th birthday on New Year’s Eve. She got her start in radio in 1949 and quickly moved into TV. While she was a legendary talent – she was also a groundbreaker with regard to Black Americans in media. Her most memorable roles came in the 1970s and 80s on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and “The Golden Girls.” She never had kids of her own, but helped her last husband, the late game show host Allen Ludden, raise his three from a previous marriage. Her 100th birthday celebration will go on as planned
