Ryan Reynolds and wife Blake Lively are huge fans of Mariah Carey. In fact, they’re so “obsessed” that the actor put the pop star in his new movie “Free Guy,” which premieres August 13th.
Well, the singer herself isn’t in the movie. But her music is, Reynolds revealing to “Variety” that Carey’s’s 1995 hit “Fantasy” is basically “the engine of the movie.” He writes to music, and when “Fantasy” came on while he was working on the script, he says “everything clicked in.”
Of course, he made sure to get the pop superstar’s blessing first. “I got to speak with Mariah and talked to her a little bit about how much of an engine and an agent of progress that this song had been in terms of our creative process and the scripts,” he adds. “She’s just been awesome about it.”
