Ryan Reynolds and Sir Paul McCartney are up for big honors in Canada – but it could just be an epic prank. The two have been nominated as Chief for Walpole Island First Nation, making them the first non-natives up for election.
The actor and Beatles icon were nominated by two eligible electors this weekend, which makes them instantly qualify as official nominees for Chief. “TMZ” reports that they don’t really have to be a part of the native community to be nominated for – or even appointed – Chief thanks to an old loophole.
Now, Reynolds and McCartney just have to get off the ballot before the deadline passes and they stay legit candidates. So far, it’s unclear why they were nominated, but apparently there are some mixed emotions about it.
