Kanye West is going forward with his bid for the presidency by holding his first campaign event at the Exquis Event Center in North Charleston, South Carolina. Each registered guest had to sign a COVID-19 liability release form, social distance, and wear a mask.

‘Ye covered several topics from supporting the LGBTQ+ community and gun control to addiction and the modern healthcare system. And true to form, he made several controversial statements, including, “Harriett Tubman never actually freed the slaves, she just had them work for other White people.”

The rapper – who apparently envisions himself on Mount Rushmore – saved his most passionate language for his opposition to abortion. Apparently his father wanted to abort him, but he says that his mom, the late Donda West, saved him. He then spoke about his wife, Kim Kardashian. He said that they’d considered ending her first pregnancy. But God told him in a vision, “If you [freak] with my vision, I’m gonna [freak] with yours.” That’s when he told her that they were having the baby. “Even if my wife were to divorce me after this speech, she brought [their daughter] North into the world,” he explained.

  • ‘Ye addressed another interesting point as far as his businesses is concerned. He has deals with both Adidas and with Gap. Now he wants to be on the board at both companies. And if he’s not offered a seat, he’s threatening to walk away. For the record, Adidas distributes his Yeezy brand. If he walks away, he could lose his billionaire status. But he said, “When God calls Moses, he has to leave his comfy job working for the Egyptians and free the people.”
  • For the record, Kanye needs 270 electoral votes to win. They’re only 306 electoral votes left among the states, plus Washington, DC, where the filing deadlines have yet to pass. If he doesn’t get on all of the ballots for the five states with an August 3rd deadline, the reality is that he won’t physically be able to win on Election Day.
  • ONE MORE THING! You’d think that running for president would be a full-time job. Clearly it’s not. He also announced that he’ll be dropping an album on Friday.
