As you may recall, Nicolas Cage had an eventful trip to Las Vegas earlier this year that resulted in a four-day marriage to his ex-girlfriend Erika Koike. What happens in Vegas usually stays in Vegas, but the actor has spoken about the breakup in a new interview with The New York Times.
Well, he’s mentioned it, saying that he was “pretty upset” after his “recent breakup.” It makes sense that he’d need to blow off some steam after the ordeal – after filing an annulment after four days, his ex requested spousal support. That’s why Cage says he ended up at a karaoke joint for a rendition of Prince’s “Purple Rain” that ended up going viral.
As we previously reported, Cage was caught on camera literally screaming the words to the anthem. But Cage says he wasn’t there to sing, he considered it more like “primal scream therapy.” Also… the karaoke joint had a “no videotaping” policy, so he’s surprised the footage even wound up online.
