Last night was another installment of Fox’s new hit celebrity competition show, “The Masked Singer.” Once again, it was up to the audience and panel of all-star judges – Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong, Nicole Scherzinger and Joel McHale – to guess the true identities of the celebs in disguise.
We got to see new performances from some of the remaining 8 stars: Alien, Rabbit, Lion and Unicorn. And this time, each disguised celeb brought a personal item as an extra clue about their true identity. Here’s what happened.
- The Rabbit sang first, belting out “Poison” by Bell Biv DeVoe. The choreography kept the judges guessing that he’s from a boy band. And his item? A magician kit, which backs up speculation that he’s Joey Fatone from *NSYNC, although the singer has denied being a part of the show. Clue Review: Male, great singing voice, has spent most of his life on stage but not solo, can work some choreography, “quick-footed,” possibly a pop singer, has worn a mask before, something connection to a carousel or theme park as well as magic, possibly from New York.
- The Unicorn was up next, singing “I Love It” by Icona Pop. Her personal item was a typewriter, which had Jenny thinking she could be Lauren Conrad. But Ken is dead set on her being Tori Spelling. Her clues mention “hills,” which could back him up if it’s a reference to “Beverly Hills 90210.” Clue Review: Female, shy, not a singer, could be a gymnast or something else related to “flying,” connection to “the hills” and typewriters, has lost her “sheen.”
- The Alien hit the stage next, singing “Happy” by Pharrell Williams. She sang with a more sultry voice than usual, and the item she brought was a police badge from Muncie, Indiana. Together, the clues had Nicole thinking she could be LaToya Jackson or Paula Abdul. Oppositely, Jenny is convinced that she’s non-singers Nicole Richie or Paris Hilton. Clue Review: Female, high voice, in shape, has a lot of sisters – possibly five, grew up in the public eye, is a quadruple threat, isn’t known for singing, connection to Muncie, Indiana police.
- Finally, the Lion hit the stage next, stunning with her rendition of Sia’s “California Dreaming.” Her item was a scrunchie, which she said is a “family heirloom.” She also mentioned that “The Wizard of Oz” is her favorite movie, and said “tick tock, the twister is coming,” which had Jenny wondering if she had a connection to Kesha (who’s known for her hit “Tik Tok”). Since she said that “being on stage is my destiny,” Robin was thinking she could be Michelle Williams from “Destiny’s Child,” and Nicole was thinking Mel B from the Spice Girls. Clue Review: Female, “Hollywood royalty,” has “lots of women” in her pride, can sing, doesn’t have anything gold or platinum on her wall (so probably isn’t a recording artist), a scrunchie is her “family heirloom,” loves “The Wizard of Oz.”
In the end, the one voted off for the unmasking was the Unicorn, and the judges threw in some of their last guesses before the big reveal. Ken stuck with his guess, and ended up being right, as she was revealed to be… Tori Spelling!
That still leaves eight more disguised celebs to uncover – behind the masks of the Rabbit, Alien, Raven, Bee, Lion, Monster, and Peacock. Who do you think they are?
- ONE MORE THING! Enjoying the show? Well, here’s some good news – “The Masked Singer” has been renewed by Fox for season twoalready!
