From Dr Dave Ultimate Prep:
Ving Rhames may be an international star and even in the #1 movie in the country, “Mission: Impossible – Fallout,” but he’s not immune to scary encounters with police. And in fact, he says he things could have gone very wrong for him back in 2016.
As the story goes, Rhames was in his home when police suddenly arrived – and had their guns drawn. “I hear a noise in my backyard, but I’m thinking, you know, the puppies are just running around or what have you,” he explains. “And then, I get a knock on the front door…I get up, I open the door, there’s a red dot pointed at my face from a nine-millimeter.” Fortunately, one of the responding officers recognized him.
“The captain of police… he recognized me because my son played against his [kids’] school… and the guy, says it was a mistake, they apologize,” Rhames notes. “I said, ‘Why are you doing this?’ He said to me, literally, ‘A woman called 9-1-1, said a large black man was breaking into the house.’ And so they came.” And they left, but the exchange is something Rhames says he’ll never forget.
- In a statement to “Entertainment Tonight,” the Santa Monica Police Department confirms the account, but says that they turned it into something positive for the community.
