Warner Bros. has reportedly locked in a deal with Joaquin Phoenix to play The Joker in a new origin film. The film will be directed be Todd Phillips (‘The Hangover,’ ‘War Dogs’) and executive produced by Martin Scorsese. As for the script, the studio describes it as an “exploration of a man disregarded by society [that] is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.” Production begins in New York this September.
