Billy Dee Williams will reprise his iconic role of Lando Calrissian in “Star Wars: Episode IX.” The next installment in the movie series, directed by J.J. Abrams, is set for release December 20th of 2019.
Williams, who is a sprite 81, joined the franchise for its second installment, 1980’s “The Empire Strikes Back.” His character, who is a friend of Han Solo’s, was last seen in “Return of the Jedi” in 1983 before Donald Glover played a younger version in the spin-off “Solo: A Star Wars Story.”
Filming is expected to start this summer.
