Jerry Seinfeld has spoken out recently about the lawsuit he is currently facing with Christian Charles, who is suing him for allegedly stealing his idea for the show Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. Seinfeld listed three specific reasons why he believes the case should be dismissed:

  • Charles didn’t sue for copyright when he had the chance, considering that the pilot premiered in 2012 and the statute of limitations for a copyright claim case is three years.
  • The concept of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee is too generic to claim copyright.
  • Charles only claimed copyright on the show’s pilot but not the concept of the show, even though he actually did file his own claim 10 days after.
