J.K. Rowling Breaks Silence On Depp Casting

Johnny Depp in “Fantastic Beasts 2” – fans have speculated, director David Yates has defended himself, and now J.K. Rowling has broken her silence on the casting. While some fans are upset Depp is playing Grindelwald after Amber Heard‘s accusations of domestic abuse against him, Rowling says there are “agreements” going on behind the scenes that we don’t know about.

“The agreements that have been put in place to protect the privacy of two people, both of whom have expressed a desire to get on with their lives, must be respected,” Rowling explains. “Based on our understanding of the circumstances, the filmmakers and I are not only comfortable sticking with our original casting, but genuinely happy to have Johnny playing a major character in the movies.”

“Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald,” still starring Johnny Depp, is set to hit theaters on November 16th.
