Andreas Athanasiou played the hero for the second straight night, scoring in overtime to give the Detroit Red Wings a 4-3 victory Monday over the Carolina Hurricanes. He did the same thing the night before against Minnesota.

The celebration was quickly overshadowed, however, when Hurricanes goaltender Eddie Lack fell to the ice after the goal, requiring medical attention and a stretcher. Victor Risk cross-checked Athanasiou in the back, causing him to collide with Lack while scoring the goal.

Red Wings players stayed on the ice for several minutes while medical personnel tended to Lack, who ultimately gave the thumbs up while leaving the ice.
