Mt Pleasant Police are investigating the sudden death of a 34-year-old man in late December. Derek Guenther was pronounced dead at 12:15AM on December 28th, shortly after being taken to the emergency room for treatment of hallucinations. No cause of death was listed on his death certificate, triggering questions from the county clerk. State law doesn’t require autopsies, but says medical examiners must investigate the cause and manner of deaths in certain cases.
