The Pere Marquette 1225 steam train, the inspiration for the Polar Express, made its way through mid-Michigan on Saturday. The historic locomotive traveled to Clare from its home at the Steam Railroad Institute in Owosso for its 75th anniversary celebration. When the train arrived at the Clare Depot, a giant birthday cake awaited visitors along with volunteers dressed in period attire to welcome passengers.
