Mt Pleasant Police say that car theft in the city is up 50 percent from last year. Public Information Officer Jeff Browne said the common theme with most of the break-ins was keys left in unlocked cars. So far 15 cars have been stolen in 2016. Browne reminds residents to lock their cars and bring their belongings inside at night.
