We’ve reported separately about Eddie Murphy’s heralded appearance on “SNL” over the weekend. That includes his “Bill Cosby joke.”  Nor surprisingly Cosby’s spokesperson for the disgraced (and incarcerated) legend is speaking out.

To review, Murphy cracked that “if you would have told me 30 years ago that I would be this boring, stay-at-home dad and Bill Cosby would be in jail, even I would have taken that bet.” Everyone laughed. Not “Team Cosby.”

In the after, Cosby flack Andrew Wyatt released a statement calling the joke “disparaging,” especially in light of the fact that Cosby “broke color barriers in the Entertainment Industry.” “One would think that Mr. Murphy was given his freedom to leave the plantation,”Wyatt added. “So that (Murphy) could make his own decisions; but he decided to sell himself back to being a Hollywood Slave.” But that’s not all.

  • Wyatt also went on to accuse Eddie of “cooning” and perpetuating racial stereotypes, comparing him to ‘Stepin Fetchit,’ the stage name of actor Lincoln Perry, who embodied racist clichés. He also said that attacking Cosby – who’s currently serving time for sexually assaulting Andrea Constand – just helped Eddie become click bait.
  • Wyatt would apparently like to have a chat with Murphy. “Hopefully, you will be amenable to having a meeting of the minds conversation,” he added. “In order to discuss how we can use our collective platforms to enhance Black people rather than bringing all of us down together.”

So far, Eddie and his reps haven’t commented.
