Hanks Will Not Screen New Film At White House

Tom Hanks Isn’t Visiting The White House Anytime Soon-Tom Hanks says he wouldn’t screen his new film, “The Post,” at the White House for President Trump.

Hanks told “The Hollywood Reporter” yesterday that now is the time to start voting before the election, and that he would probably vote not to go to the White House. “The Post” tells the story of the 1971 decision by “The New York Times” and “The Washington Post” to publish a government account of U.S. decision-making in Vietnam, known as the Pentagon Papers. Meryl Streep stars as “Post” publisher Katherine Graham and Hanks plays executive editor Ben Bradlee.

The White House often screens films in its private East Wing theater. There are no indications Trump has asked for a showing of “The Post,” which opens today. The film directed by Steven Spielberg has received six Golden Globe nominations.
