A sanitary sewer overflow has been reported at the Mt. Pleasant wastewater plant.

According to the Morning Sun newspaper, the plant experienced an overflow due to excessive rainfall, according to a news release from the city’s public works department.

“Crews are working throughout the city to alleviate conditions caused by sewer overflows and back-ups,” the city wrote. “Although the overflow event is quickly coming under control, the total volume contributed to the receiving stream is unknown at this time.”
