Several departments at Central Michigan University are preparing for a possible severe budget deficit next year. Declining enrollment and reduced state funding led to a $10.6 million shortfall for the 2016-17 fiscal year. The university asked each department to prepare for a possible 6 to 12 percent reduction for the 2017-18 fiscal year.
