The Beal City Aggies survived the Evart defense, and themselves for a 21-6 victory Friday night in Evart. The Aggies gave up three turnovers throughout the contest, but thanks to a solid defensive effort, they pulled out the win. Evart struggled with ball control as well, giving up three turnovers in the loss.

After securing an interception early, Kyle Yuncker punched in a one-yard touchdown run to give Beal City an early 7-0 lead. Yuncker would find the end zone again in the second quarter on another short run to give the Aggies a 14-0 lead. Evart would respond with a field goal right before halftime leaving Beal City with a 14-3 lead.

The Aggies fumbled on the opening drive of the third quarter. Evart capitalized with another field goal. The Wildcats trailed 14-6 going into the final quarter.

Beal City scored one final touchdown early in the fourth quarter when Lucas Schumacker found Thomas McCann on a screen pass for a 21-6 lead. The Aggies would fumble once more. Evart could never capitalize on Beal’s mistakes, however, with plenty of ball control issues in the final minutes of the game.

Kyle Yuncker for his efforts earned JNR Engraving Player of the Week honors. He finished with two touchdowns and an interception. Yuncker has a plaque coming his way next week.

The schedule doesn’t get any easier here for Beal City as they return home to host Highland rival McBain next week. At 3-2, they need three more wins to secure a playoff berth. Evart travels to Lake City, also with a 3-2 record, fighting for a playoff position.

Chris and Matt travel to Flint’s Atwood Stadium next week as the Mt Pleasant Oilers play Flint Southwestern. The Oilers remain an outside contender for a playoff berth. Mt Pleasant fell to Lapeer Friday night. We’ll see you at 6:45PM next week right here on My 1043.
