The Mt Pleasant Oilers came out strong, but ultimately the quick strike offense of Midland Dow prevailed, picking up a 41-14 victory over the Oilers Thursday night at Midland Community Stadium. Logan Buczkowski started the game with a big touchdown run for the Oilers to make it 7-0. Darrin Bergman padded the early Oiler lead with a touchdown run of his own, giving Mt Pleasant a 14-0 lead.

Things went south quickly for the Oilers. Logan Buczkowski never returned after the 1st quarter. Early rumors indicate he broke his wrist. Bruce Mann, the senior phenom for Dow, finally heated up, connecting quickly with Brendon Kuch and tying the game at 14-14 before halftime.

The second half was all about the Dow offense. Bruce Mann found the end zone with his feet early in the 3rd quarter, and added two more touchdowns through the air before Ben Ziegler ran for the final touchdown of the game.

Hunter Norris led the defense for Mt Pleasant with a huge 4th down goal line stop early in the game. Norris continued to shine as Mt Pleasant’s top defender throughout the night. His efforts earned him our JNR Player of the Game award.

The schedule doesn’t get any easier for Mt Pleasant as they play their first game of the season at Community Memorial Stadium next Friday against Davison. Dow travels to Bay City Central on Thursday.
